Esitmates, Surveys & Quotes
Where do I confirm the total value of my goods?
You can confirm the total value of your belongings when accepting your quote by adding the details in the comments box. Alternatively, you are welcome to email the information directly to our team. This helps us ensure the correct level of cover for your removals in Cheshire.
What happens after the initial phone call?
Following your first call, we will prepare and send you a detailed estimate within 24 hours. If you are happy with the estimate and our service, you can accept it with no legal obligation. Once you have a confirmed move date, simply let us know and we will arrange a full survey to progress your removals Cheshire booking.
How do I book a survey?
After accepting the initial estimate and confirming your moving date, we will schedule a survey at a time that suits you. This survey allows us to provide a final, accurate quote for your move and ensure everything is planned correctly.
How is a survey carried out?
Surveys are completed either in person at your property or via a video call, depending on your preference. The surveyor will go through your home room by room, usually starting upstairs in multi storey properties or in the bedrooms.
During the survey, we record all furniture items and estimate the number of boxes required for each room. This information allows us to calculate the total volume of goods being moved, which helps us determine how many vehicles and team members are needed for your removals in Cheshire. This careful planning ensures your move runs smoothly and efficiently on the day.
Packing & Packing Materials
Can I purchase polythene covers for mattresses and sofas?
There is no need to purchase these separately. Cheshire Movers includes polythene mattress covers as part of your removals Cheshire service, and we arrive with everything required on move day.
How many boxes do I need for self packing?
The number of boxes you need is based on your survey. After reviewing your property, we will advise exactly how many boxes are required to support your removals in Cheshire.
Can I purchase bubble wrap for my TV?
You do not need to buy bubble wrap for televisions. Our team will professionally wrap and safely move your TV on move day as part of your Cheshire removals service.
Do you bring materials for wrapping paintings and mirrors?
Smaller pictures and paintings can be boxed, ideally padded with packing paper. For larger pictures and mirrors, we bring specialist padded picture bags with internal dividers and protective card fronts. If you have particularly valuable artwork, we will create a tailored packing plan during the survey to ensure professional protection throughout your removals Cheshire process.
Is there guidance on labelling items for packing or not packing?
Using post it notes marked leave, pack, or room names is very helpful. Alternatively, items you do not want packed can be grouped together, although this is not always practical. Our team will also confirm everything with you on packing day to avoid confusion during your removals in Cheshire.
Should food cupboards and the fridge be emptied?
Dry food cupboards can be emptied into boxes by our team. Fridges are usually loaded last and unloaded first. If you have cool bags available, these can help during delays, but they are not essential.
Do you collect boxes after the move?
Used boxes can be collected locally after your move. We can dispose of them or reuse them for a small additional charge.
Do I need to order TV, sofa, or mattress protection in advance?
No advance ordering is needed. TVs are wrapped on move day, sofas and armchairs are protected with padded removal covers, and mattresses are wrapped using polythene protectors and padded covers as standard with Cheshire Movers.
Dismantling & Reassembling Items
Is dismantling and reassembling furniture included in the price?
Yes, dismantling and reassembling furniture is included as standard with Cheshire Movers. During your survey, simply point out any items that will need to be taken apart and put back together so we can plan your removals Cheshire service correctly.
What if an item cannot be dismantled?
If an item cannot be dismantled due to concerns about reassembly, we can still move it as long as it is safe to do so. We will need your approval, and we must be confident the item can be removed from the property and secured in the vehicle without dismantling.
It is important to highlight these items during the survey. This allows us to plan access, handling, and protection in advance, ensuring your removals in Cheshire run smoothly on the day.
Booking Your Move, Payment, Date Changes & Cancellations
Can I book a moving date?
Yes. Once you have accepted your final quote, Cheshire Movers will issue an invoice for 50 percent of the quoted price. This secures your moving date in our schedule.
Do you offer weekend moves?
Yes, we carry out Cheshire removals on weekdays and weekends, subject to availability.
What happens if my moving date changes?
We ask customers to book a date only once they are confident the move will go ahead. A 50 percent payment is required to reserve the date.
If your date changes more than 10 working days before the move, we can reschedule free of charge. If the change is within 10 working days of your moving date, an adjustment fee will apply in line with our cancellation terms.
When do I pay for the move?
Payment is split into stages.
Fifty percent is paid to reserve your moving date.
The remaining 50 percent is due up to 48 hours before the move.
Any additional hours are payable within five days after completion.
This structure helps keep removals Cheshire pricing clear and manageable.
What are the cancellation or date change charges?
For cancellations or date changes made more than 10 working days before the move, there is no fee.
For changes made between five and 10 working days before the move, the charge is 30 percent of the quoted price.
For changes made within five working days, the charge is 50 percent of the quoted price.
For example, if your total removals in Cheshire quote is £1,200 and you cancel five working days before the move, the charge would be up to £360. If you cancel four working days before, the charge would be up to £600.
Do I pay extra if there is a delay or key wait?
Many removals companies move items into storage if keys are delayed and charge additional fees for storage and redelivery. Cheshire Movers always aims to complete your move on the same day wherever possible.
Some companies offer a fixed key waiver fee in advance. We do not believe this is fair, as many customers never need it. Instead, we charge a small amount for additional half hours only if delays extend the working day beyond 10 hours. This simply covers extra staff wages and is the most transparent and customer friendly approach for removals Cheshire customers.
